Category: Getting to Know You

Hello, I'm new here. It's nice to come across a board for blind and partially-sighted people. I came here because I posted on Facebook asking if anyone knew of good audio games to play on the PC, and someone gave me the link and said I might find some here. I'd like to find a game that gives me a good adrenaline buzz but isn't just about killing things before they kill you, and which can spark off the imagination. Does anyone know of such a game?

I'm thinking of trying to get into Internet radio broadcasting. A few of my Facebook friends do shows on Internet radio stations where quite a few of the presenters are blind. I need to find out more about how to go about it though. I posted a message in the Broadcasters' Lounge forum asking for advice, but no one's replied yet. If anyone could give me advice about what equipment would be best to get, it would be nice if they could make suggestions. Thanks.

Well, well, welcome to the zone. Um, there are some games but no audio games here. But, I have no clue about broadcasting. Sorry.

Hi, and welcome to the zone.

Have you heard of All in Play? If you like poker, blackjack, crazy eights, and word games, you might want to check it out. It's not free, but you can try it out for 15 days before you have to start paying for a membership.

Hello there, and a big welcome to the zone! As far as games, we only have the simple anagram and word games here, but if you have a smartphone, you could try Audio Defence or papa Sangre. Hope this helps. I know plenty of people that are in to radio broadcasting, but I have no idea how they do it. Some use a program called Station Playlist Studio, and if you use Jaws, there are scripts for it.

As for internet broadcasting I've been doing that since saturday april 2, 2005, so I think I can help you out.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I'd love some advice on radio broadcasting, renegade rocker. Thanks. Any program I used would have to be accessible for totally blind people. I'm wondering if I'd need an extra sound card in my computer, and what kind of microphone would be best, among other things. I posted some questions in 'Broadcasters' Lounge', but my poor little post's still sitting there all alone looking lonely. :D

I'm not really into word games or games of chance/gambling; more fantasy games or battles of wits, I think. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Having two cards would be helpfull if you wanna do voicedrops behind your music, and to have your crossfading heard over the air.

Hello and welcome to the zone. I hope you will enjoy it. I know nothing when it comes to broadcasting. As for games I know what you mean. You have an idea in your mind but you can't find what you are looking for. You could try some muds, but that's something I don't know much about.
Anyway, take care.

Just so we don't clutter up this thread, just private quicknote me the next time you're on, and I can help you with more broadcast tips.

I won't mind this thread being cluttered up - after all, it is mine, and it's not very busy. But we could instead move this conversation to the thread I started asking for advice about Internet radio broadcasting here, and then maybe other people will get the benefit of any advice you can give too? https://www.zonebbs.com/boards.php?t=29627
